Roswell Man Wins $52,000 a Year for Life

ROSWELL, GA -- A Roswell man is celebrating a lifetime Georgia Lottery win.

Carlos Cook, 58, won $52,000 a year for life by matching all six winning numbers from the Saturday, Nov. 6 Win for Life drawing. The prize payout equals $1,000 a week for life.

Cook randomly selected his lucky combination. His winning numbers were 11-14-15-18-25-35 and the Free Ball was 29.

Publix Super Markets #1019 (270 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, 30004) sold the top prize ticket.

Any Georgia Lottery retailer who sells a Win for Life top prize ticket can earn the $5,000 retailer incentive bonus payment. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold in Georgia, the retailers selling the winning tickets will share the $5,000 retailer incentive bonus.

Publix Super Markets will receive the $5,000 retailer incentive bonus.

Win for Life drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:00 p.m.

2010 Row for the Cure

ROSWELL, GA -- Every year, the rowing clubs of metro Atlanta come together to help raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

On Saturday, Sept. 11, under a clear blue sky, rowers made their way down the Chattahoochee River in honor of breast cancer patients of the past, present and future.

Participants included the Atlanta Rowing Club, St. Andrew Rowing Club, Atlanta Junior Rowing Association and the crew teams from Georgia State and Georgia Tech.

Roswell Offers Art Classes at Adult Rec Center

ROSWELL, GA -- The Roswell Adult Recreation Center will host classes by artist and instructor Stuart Fleishman during the Fall/Winter season. The classes, "Charcoal and Pastel with Stuart," will focus on drawing from real objects. Students will start with simple techniques using charcoal and will learn to discern and draw values, light and shadows, texture, shape, form, volume and mass.

Classes will be offered at the following dates/times:

* Wednesdays 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. (September 8 - October 27)
* Fridays 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (September 10 - October 29)
* Wednesdays 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. (December 1 - February 2)
* Fridays 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (December 3 - February 4)

The cost is $76 per program for Roswell residents and $114 for non-residents.

Classes will be held at the Roswell Adult Recreational Center located at 830 Grimes Bridge Road. The classes are for age 50 and older.
