Racing for a Cause Brings Funds, Awareness to APFED

Racing for a Cause Brings Funds, Awareness to APFED

ROSWELL, GA -- For the first 21 months of his life, McDonough resident Ricky Springer suffered from constant pain that baffled his parents and 18 different doctors.

Finally, thanks to volunteers with the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (APFED), the Springers found a physician who properly diagnosed their son with eosinophilic colitis, a highly allergic response to certain food allergens.

Ricky was immediately placed on a special diet of elemental formula. Within four days, the pain disappeared, transforming him into a happy, normal little boy.

Because it was so difficult to find a diagnosis for his condition, Ricky made it his mission to raise awareness for eosinophilic disorders.
