Layaways Coming for the Holidays 2011

Layaways Coming for the Holidays 2011

As the holidays come near I figured it was time to let everyone know about the great layaway programs that will be going on this season. This is the time to start getting ready for the holidays and with these great programs you can get your holiday shopping done and be debt free. This is one of the things that I plan on doing to help with the cost of providing my daughter a Christmas.

Best Buy

Make a 25% down payment, plus a 5% nonrefundable layaway fee. Best Buy requires a minimum purchase of $250, but keep in mind that you can include several items to meet that total. Payments are made every two weeks until the balance is paid in full. Items that are ineligible for layaway include clearance, promotional, closeout and discontinued items.

ROSWELL, Ga. -- Roswell residents who have unwanted items scattered through their basements, attics and garages have two upcoming chances to get rid of them.

The city, in conjunction with Keep Roswell Beautiful and the city of Milton, will host its popular Bulky Trash Amnesty Day event on Saturday, Nov. 5.

From 8 a.m. to noon, residents are invited to visit the Roswell Public Works Divison and dispose of such large items as tires, sofas, refrigerators, washers and dryers, deactivated cell phones and electronics. Proof of residency, preferably in the form of a utility bill, will be required.

Participants are encouraged to arrive early, as past turnouts for the amnesty day have been large.

ROSWELL, Ga. -- When Iraq War veteran Alissa returned to her hometown of Fargo, N.D. after fighting overseas, she was met with some surprising reactions.

"Ever since I left the military three years ago, I had been getting quite a bit of harassment in my town from people disagreeing with the war," she said.

But when Alissa heard of a special event happening in Roswell for engaged military women, she hopped in her car and drove all the way to Georgia.

"For me to see a company reach out their arms so graciously to those who served and those who endured the separation to those serving is nothing less than amazing," she said.

A few times a year, the popular bridal shop Wedding Angels teams up with Brides Across America to give away free designer wedding gowns to fiancées with ties to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
