Roswell remembers hometown hero

Roswell remembers hometown hero

ROSWELL, Ga. -- As many as 6,000 Metro Atlanta residents turned out for the annual Roswell Remembers Memorial Day event at Roswell City Hall.

Among the attendees was Susan Price, the mother of a young man who died serving his country.

Price took part in the wreath laying ceremony in honor of her son, Marine Staff Sgt. Aaron M. Kenefick, who was killed during an ambush in Afghanistan on Sept. 8, 2009.

Kenefick, a 1998 graduate of Roswell High School, served in the U.S. Marines for 12 years. He was named Marine of the Year twice.

"He was an American hero," Price said. "I'm honored that the Lord gave him to me to mentor. Then he took over and mentored others. I'm very proud and honored to be his mother."

Roswell Remembers is considered the largest Memorial Day ceremony in Georgia.
