Friend who found Bobbi Kristina in tub breaks silence

ROSWELL, Ga. – The man who found Bobbi Kristina Brown face down in a bathtub said that his past drug arrest is unrelated the the incident.

Brown, the 21-year-old daughter of Houston and Bobby Brown, has been hospitalized since Saturday morning when she was found unresponsive in a tub at her Roswell home.

Two other people were mentioned in the police report detailing the incident – Brown's boyfriend, Nick Gordon, and 24-year-old Maxwell Byron Lomas.

Lomas, who works for a Norcross tree service according to the report, was arrested on Jan. 15 and charged with possession of the anti-anxiety drug Alprazolam and marijuana. He was also charged with possession of a firearm or knife during commission or attempt to commit certain felonies, according to Fulton County Jail records.

According to the incident report, Roswell police went to the Intown Suites fearing that Lomas may have been using drugs to keep an 18-year-old woman from leaving.

Lomas' attorney, Philip Holloway, denied those allegations.

"I've got a written statement directly from the girlfriend where she says in no uncertain terms that she was not being forcibly held by anyone and that she was not given any drugs," Holloway said.

In a statement, Holloway stressed that the arrest is not connected to the incident at Brown's home, and said that Lomas is cooperating with authorities.

Holloway's statement reads, in part:

"It is our understanding that Mr. Lomas has cooperated with the authorities investigating what happened involving his dear friend, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Mr. Lomas is deeply concerned for Ms. Brown and remains hopeful for her full, complete and swift recovery.

Mr. Lomas' widely reported recent arrest is completely unrelated to the incident that occurred at Ms. Brown's residence and there is absolutely no relationship between the two events. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

Mr. Lomas has not been accused of anything in connection with Bobbi Kristina Brown's injuries and is a witness in this investigation. Mr. Lomas' main focus is on Ms. Brown's full recovery and he continues to pray for her and her entire family throughout this tragedy."

On Monday, Bobbi Kristina Brown was moved to Emory University Hospital from North Fulton Hospital. Family members said that she is breathing with the help of a ventilator and has briefly opened her eyes.

Teresa Mellas, an employee at the Alpharetta tattoo parlor Inksomnia, said that she's known Bobbi Kristina Brown fpr about six years. Mellas said Brown was spotted two weeks ago wearing a T-shirt with a picture of Whitney Houston and a belt from her mother. Mellas said that Brown talked about her mother, who passed away on Feb. 11, 2012. Mellas described Brown as upbeat and said she received three piercings.

"She was very happy that day, very bubbly," Mellas said.

Mellas said that Brown told her she was scheduled to begin work on an album soon and was very excited about it.
