ROSWELL, Ga. -- Roswell Police Department K9 Bruno will now be a little safer when he hits the streets with his fellow cops.
Bruno is the proud recipient of a Kevlar bulletproof vest, courtesy of Trouw Nutrition USA.
The K9 and his handler Officer Greg Cooper received the vest on Jan. 15.
Trouw Nutrition USA, which supplies speciality ingredients to the U.S. pet food industry, worked with non-profit Kevlar for K9s to give Bruno an $840 vest free of charge.
"Today's working K9s in law enforcement are put in mortal danger when they are doing their jobs," Roswell Police Officer Lisa Holland said in a statement. "The vest will protect the dog while he is out helping the public."
