LifeSouth Increases Impact in Metro Atlanta

ATLANTA -- With the arrival of 2011, LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will begin supplying three new hospitals in Metro Atlanta with blood products.

The additions are all part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation:

* North Fulton Regional Hospital (3000 Hospital Boulevard, Roswell, 30076)
* Spalding Regional Medical Center (601 South 8th Street, Griffin, 30224)
* Sylvan Grove Hospital (1050 McDonough Road, Jackson, 30233)

LifeSouth now serves 21 medical facilities in and around Metro Atlanta.

"This is an opportunity to serve more people, help more patients and save more lives," said LifeSouth Georgia district director Ted Schwartz.

LifeSouth supplies blood components to more than 100 hospitals in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.

Roswell High Highlights "Jersey Shore" to Raise Pennies for Patients

ROSWELL, GA -- From Friday, Oct. 15 until Friday, Oct. 29, Roswell High School raised $10,069.54 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients annual fundraiser.

Roswell High's chapter of the National Honor Society hosted the fundraiser. Together, students and faculty collected two and a half times more than they did in 2009, and five times more than 2008.

Pennies for Patients school and youth campaign manager Kyley Borowski said Roswell High School will probably be the top school in the region and among the top five or seven in the state.

Centennial High Raises $550 for Susan G. Komen

ROSWELL, GA -- Students at Centennial High School in Roswell recently pitched in to help the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta affiliate.

The school's student council senior class officers and varsity football and cheerleading captains, along with CHS principal Dr. Steven Miletto, presented a $550 check to Susan G. Komen special events volunteer manager Jessica Murdock.

The generous donations were collected during the home football game against Roswell High School on Friday, Oct. 15.

Rite Aid to Hold Free Diabetes Clinics

ATLANTA -- November is American Diabetes Month, and a number of Atlanta-area Rite Aid pharmacies will hold free Diabetes Solutions Days during the week of Nov. 1.

An annual tradition, these clinics are a great chance for patients and caretakers alike to brush up on the latest information from Rite Aid's clinical pharmacy team and the American Diabetes Association, a Rite Aid national strategic partner.

Clinics will take place at the following locations from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.:

2010 Row for the Cure

ROSWELL, GA -- Every year, the rowing clubs of metro Atlanta come together to help raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

On Saturday, Sept. 11, under a clear blue sky, rowers made their way down the Chattahoochee River in honor of breast cancer patients of the past, present and future.

Participants included the Atlanta Rowing Club, St. Andrew Rowing Club, Atlanta Junior Rowing Association and the crew teams from Georgia State and Georgia Tech.
