Daddy-Daughter Date Night at Chick-fil-A

ATLANTA -- The 119 Atlanta-area Chick-fil-A restaurants will host a special Daddy-Daughter Date Night on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Fathers and daughters will be encouraged to spend the evening together, enjoying time in the restaurant and participating in activities.

"One of Chick-fil-A's goals is to promote community connections and enrich the lives of everyone we come in contact with," said Robin Lomax, Chick-fil-A area marketing director. "We understand the importance of father-daughter relationships and want to encourage Atlanta community members to take a break from busy schedules, enjoy their loved ones' company over a meal and celebrate the significant relationship in their lives."

Each Chick-fil-A will celebrate in its own way.

Pre-Teen Cancer Survivor Inspires Book Sale Fundraiser

ALPHARETTA, GA -- It all started during a typical November weekend in Alpharetta's Dunmoor subdivision.

Samara Chasin, 12, and her mother Lisa watched their neighborhood's youth tennis team compete against the Horseshoe Bend team.

Nearby, 11-year-old Roswell resident Madie Dreesman cheered during her younger sister's match. A bandana covered Madie's hairless head.

In the car on the way home, Samara's eyes filled with tears. She asked her mother about the little girl with no hair.

Lisa had spoken with Madie and her mother during the match. She explained that Madie had cancer and was undergoing treatment, most likely chemotherapy.

HomeStretch Launches Fundraising Campaign

HomeStretch, a non-profit that helps homeless families in North Metro Atlanta with temporary housing and provides educational skills, has launched a fundraising campaign using Give By Cell.

HomeStretch has been providing families with low-rent housing and structured education programs for 17 years. There are 24 units where families can stay for six months to two years until they graduate from the program.

Last year nine families graduated; three of those families were approved for Habitat for Humanity homes and a fourth purchased their own home. These families go forth to own homes, having obtained new life skills such as vocational training and money management.
