River Eves rolls out red carpet for students

ROSWELL, Ga. -- River Eves Elementary School in Roswell rolled out the red carpet -- literally -- for students on Monday.

When students climbed off the school bus on the first day of classes and were greeted by their teachers, administrators and PTA leaders, their smiles rivaled those of any Hollywood stars.

"School is where all the real stars shine," said River Eves principal Neil Pinnock as he waited on the red carpet for the school buses to roll up to the door. "We wanted our students to know how much we care about them and the importance we place on education."

The River Eves PTA has planned a number of special events for the first few weeks of the school year, including an "Independence Day Breakfast" for kindergarten parents and a "Calling All Dads" event to encourage fathers to become involved in their kids' lives and act as positive role models.
