Wigwam Fest aims to become next big Atlanta festival

ROSWELL, Ga. -- At the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, the next three Sundays will be home to the Wigwam Fest. If Jennifer Lingvall has her way, the word 'wigwam' will become like Dogwood or Music Midtown -- a crowd-drawing festival of a different sort, where you can do and try everything.

"Some of the classes include yoga, stand up paddle boarding, clean eating chefs, inspirational speakers," Lingvall said.

Lingvall was a busy event planner in Atlanta. "I worked on festivals and events, more like the raging drinking kind," she said, laughing.

That was until 2012, when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at the age of 31.

"My cancer was very aggressive. On the three grades, I was grade three and off the charts. In addition to eight rounds of chemo and a double mastectomy, I did everything under the sun," she said.

Lingvall used Eastern and Western medicine to attack the cancer. Three years after her diagnosis, she is cancer free.

Wigwam Fest is Lingvall using everything she learned to try to help others improve their lives, naturally.

"Wigwam Fest for me is that phoenix moment -- rise from the ashes," she said. "You take all those things that have happened to you and turn them into a triumphant moment."
