8 arrested in connection with Roswell, Mableton home invasions

ROSWELL, Ga. -- Roswell Police joined forces with officers from Cherokee, Cobb and Forsyth counties to arrest eight men believed to be responsible for a Wednesday evening home invasion, among other incidents.

The homeowner was alone in the basement of the house on Windsor Wood Drive shortly after 7:30 p.m. when he heard a thump and went upstairs to investigate, according to Roswell Police. He was confronted by five men, who tied him up with an electrical cord.

The man's wife and two children arrived home and startled the suspects, who ran from the house with a gold diamond pendant necklace.

Police determined that the suspects got into the house by breaking the glass on a back door.

The victims told police the five men were all wearing black clothes and masks, and were speaking a language that sounded like Spanish. At least one of the suspects was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

The men who were arrested Thursday were taken into custody shortly before 1 p.m, according to Roswell Police spokesman James McGee.

Cobb County Police spokesman Mike Bowman said there is a chance these same suspects are responsible for a home invasion in Mableton Tuesday.

The suspects' names have not yet been released, as investigators are working to tie them to other similar cases throughout metro Atlanta.
