North Fulton Chamber hosts forum on Connect 400

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce hosted a breakfast forum last week for regional transportation leaders to discuss MARTA's Connect 400 Transit Initiative.

About 90 people attended the forum. Attendees included business and community leaders in the GA 400 corridor, according to Chamber spokeswoman Debbie Ryals.

Connect 400 is an 18-month study that covers GA 400 from northbound Interstate 285 to McGinnis Ferry Road in Johns Creek.

"This study is a huge step toward advancing exploration of new transportation alternatives in this market," Ann Hanlon, COO of the North Fulton Community Improvement District, said in a statement.

Rylas said Connect 400 will identify the GA 400 corridor's needs and look at alternatives that will allow smoother sailing for all drivers. The Chamber's forum gathered input about the corridor's transportation needs from the local leaders in attendance.

New Roswell square to boost business?

ROSWELL, Ga. -- If you've been to Roswell chances are you've taken a stroll or had a bite to eat on Canton Street.  There's also a good chances you had no idea city hall and its 400 free parking spots were right across the street. That's one reason why the city is looking at a plan to re-route the intersection connecting SR 9, Canton Street and Magnolia Street.

Supporters of the plan say it would create a larger park for community gatherings, possible sites for business development, a pedestrian underpass to keep people and cars flowing freely and improve traffic flow through the area.

The project could also help expand the charm of Canton Street, making the area around it more pedestrian and bike friendly and give City Hall more prominence downtown.
