ROSWELL, Ga. -- In 1942, Bert Lewyn witnessed the arrest and deportation of his Jewish parents by the Gestapo. The then-18-year-old was forced to work in a weapons factory in Nazi Germany.

Now, Lewyn is coming to Roswell to share his memories of fear, escape and a courageous struggle to survive underground.

On the Run in Nazi Berlin is a memoir co-written by Lewyn and his daughter-in-law, Bev Saltzman. They will discuss the book at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Temple Kehillat Chaim in Roswell.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. To RSVP, contact Nancy Rose at nnrose@comcast.net.

Temple Kehillat Chaim is located at 1145 Green Street. For more information, visit kehillatchaim.org.
