River Eves Elementary Helped by Hands On Atlanta

ROSWELL, GA -- On Saturday, Oct. 2, 48 adults and 49 children -- including school teachers and administrators, local businesses, Daisy Girl Scout troops, parents and PTA volunteers -- showed up at River Eves Elementary School in Roswell to beautify the gardens and improve the appearance of the school.

And what did this efficient team accomplish in 300 man hours of labor?

They spread 25 bales of pine straw, 57 bags of mulch and 100 bags of dirt.

They planted 26 flats of flowers, 40 bushes and 200 bulbs.

They installed 20 landscape timbers, assembled and painted three picnic tables, renovated the Children's Garden so students can learn about the local flora, overhauled the Reading Garden and improved all the landscaping in the most visible areas around the school.

They used 16 rolls of painter's tape and five gallons of paint to paint the fourth grade hallway, stripes in eight bathrooms and a stripe going into the gym.

River Eves Elementary is very proud to have been selected as a Hands On Atlanta site for 2010, and they are very grateful to Hands On Atlanta and all the volunteers who came to help.
