ATLANTA -- With the arrival of 2011, LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will begin supplying three new hospitals in Metro Atlanta with blood products.

The additions are all part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation:

* North Fulton Regional Hospital (3000 Hospital Boulevard, Roswell, 30076)
* Spalding Regional Medical Center (601 South 8th Street, Griffin, 30224)
* Sylvan Grove Hospital (1050 McDonough Road, Jackson, 30233)

LifeSouth now serves 21 medical facilities in and around Metro Atlanta.

"This is an opportunity to serve more people, help more patients and save more lives," said LifeSouth Georgia district director Ted Schwartz.

LifeSouth supplies blood components to more than 100 hospitals in Georgia, Alabama and Florida. It has served the Atlanta area since 1995 and has donor centers in Atlanta, Gainesville and McDonough, along with a fleet of bloodmobiles.

"Unlike other donor organizations, blood donated to LifeSouth stays in the local communities and is not shipped around the country or around the world. 'Community' is our middle name," said Schwartz. "It's our local donors who make this possible, and now with three hospitals, we'll need more people who would like to help their relatives, friends and neighbors in their local community by giving blood."
