Keep Roswell Beautiful Looking for Green Businesses

ROSWELL, GA -- Keep Roswell Beautiful, an organization that promotes environmental responsibility and action, is looking for businesses that show environmental sustainability and responsibility.

The Green Business Designation Program was created to recognize Roswell businesses that are recycling, taking water conservation measures, using electricity wisely and otherwise doing business in an environmentally friendly fashion.

The program is divided into three levels, with each level building on the next.

The first level includes a pledge, becoming a Business Partner of KRB, designating a contact person within the company and completing three items in each category -- Pollution Prevention, Energy Conservation, Solid Waste Reduction and Water Conservation. Each of the remaining levels builds on this foundation.

A site visit by members of the KRB Green Business Designation Committee will be scheduled within two weeks of receipt of the application.

Designations will be awarded during the KRB semi-annual breakfast event during the week of Feb. 1, 2011.

"This is not meant to be difficult," said David Smith, chairman of the Green Business Designation Committee. "We believe that a majority of the businesses in Roswell probably already qualify for a Level 1 designation. We want to recognize them for their efforts."

The application, pledge and requirements can all be found on the KRB Web site. Applications are due on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
