Historic Roswell Homes to Participate in Museum Day

ROSWELL, GA -- In conjunction with Smithsonian Media's Museum Day, three historic homes in Roswell will offer free admission to visitors holding official Museum Day tickets.

Saturday, Sept. 25 is the 6th annual Museum Day, where participating museums across the United States give patrons the chance to see their exhibits for free. Visitors must have the required ticket, which is available at the Museum Day website, to participate; the ticket is good for two people per household, per address.

Atlanta Wind Symphony Honors the Greatest Generation

ROSWELL, GA -- The Atlanta Wind Symphony is pleased to announce the first concert of the 2010-2011 Master Season. This concert will be a "Tribute to the Greatest Generation," with a program honoring the men and women who grew up in the Great Depression, ended a war and rebuilt America into a superpower.

As a special gift to honor our veterans, tickets to the event will be free for everyone, so bring the entire family -- grandparents and children. The concert will feature several familiar selections from these historic times, closing with a Big Band finale that will have everyone humming all the way home.

Embarking on its 32nd season, the AWS is internationally respected for its continued musical excellence, contribution to music education and service to the community.

The Tribute to the Greatest Generation will be on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center (950 Forest Street, Roswell, 30075) at 3:00 p.m.

Fulton County Dominates SAT with Six Schools in Top 25

ATLANTA -- Fulton County's statewide dominance of the SAT continues this year, with more than a third of its high schools scoring within the top 25 in the state.

In addition, reports from the College Board show that Northview High School has the highest SAT score in Georgia among schools with large numbers of test-takers.

* Chattahoochee High School, Alpharetta -- 1687 (no. 9)

While Northview technically ranks third in the state, the two higher-scoring schools had only seven and 20 students, respectively, taking the test.

2010 Row for the Cure

ROSWELL, GA -- Every year, the rowing clubs of metro Atlanta come together to help raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

On Saturday, Sept. 11, under a clear blue sky, rowers made their way down the Chattahoochee River in honor of breast cancer patients of the past, present and future.

Participants included the Atlanta Rowing Club, St. Andrew Rowing Club, Atlanta Junior Rowing Association and the crew teams from Georgia State and Georgia Tech.

20th Annual North Fulton Rivers Alive Festival, River Cleanup

ROSWELL, GA -- Rivers Alive, Georgia's annual river cleanup, comes to North Fulton on Saturday, Sept. 25. Sponsored by Keep Roswell Beautiful, the cleanup will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a cookout until 12:30 p.m. at Riverside Park (575 Riverside Road, Roswell, 30075). The event will be held rain or shine.

Georgia has more than 70,100 miles of rivers and streams that need help to stay clean. Individuals, neighborhoods, scout troops, schools, churches, clubs and service organizations are asked to pull together to make a difference for the Chattahoochee River.

Cleanups of the Chattahoochee and surrounding areas will be going on in the week leading up to the event. Volunteers are needed on the morning of the event for privet removal at Riverside Park and the Chattahoochee Nature Center, as well as litter pickups in surrounding areas.

No purchase is necessary but guests must present a printed coupon from El Pollo Loco's Web site, at www.elpolloloco.com. There they can download the coupon, as well as other deals for the rest of the month.
