Fulton County BOC approves funding to improve efficiency of the elections process

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- At the Aug. 5 board meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the purchase of an election/asset management system and Poll Worker on-line training software system recommended by the county’s Department of Registration and Elections. Both systems will align the department to continue resolving issues that arose during the general election and general election runoff of 2008 as well as the primary and general elections of 2012.

“The approval to implement these two systems should improve our department’s ability to conduct elections more efficiently,” states Rick Barron, Director of the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections. “The 2016 Election Year is fast approaching and having these two systems in place will enable us to be better prepared for the expected increase in turn-out due to it being a Presidential Election year.”

Another bear spotted in Roswell

ROSWELL, Ga. -- As bears continue to make their way into area communities in the summer months, the Georgia Department of National Resources (DNR) is reminding locals how to keep the local forest inhabitants at bey - and out of their back yards.

This comes as new reports of a bear surface in Roswell, Ga. where it apparently roamed the lawns of a few area residents.

Resident Britt Miles snapped several pictures of the bear which neighbors told 11Alive crossed through one neighbors yard before crossing into the side and front yards of another.

It's a situation that hasn't been uncommon in the area in recent months, but can at least be lessened with a few simple tips.

DNR officials said that main draw that brings the bears from their usual environment into urban and suburban areas is the search for food. And overtime, this can become a serious problem.
